Who can apply for FRESH 2023?
FRESH 2023 is open to everyone! This includes schools, community-based youth dance groups, individuals and youth companies aged 11-19 (25 for dancers with additional needs or a disability).
We welcome solos / duets / trios through to group pieces, all genres and styles – anything goes!
We also warmly welcome applications from youth dance groups working with young disabled dancers (up to the age of 25) as we are working to ensure that both FRESH and U.Dance are inclusive and fully accessible. Please talk to us if you have any questions or concerns about how we can make the event accessible for you or your group.
Can I submit more than one piece for FRESH 2023?
There is no limit on the amount of pieces you can submit. However, a maximum of 1 digital piece and 1 live piece can be selected to be showcased per group/school/organisation.
Do I have to submit an original piece?
All pieces submitted for FRESH 2023 should be new work created recently and not performed a lot already.
How long should pieces be for FRESH 2023?
The maximum length for a piece is 7 minutes. This does not mean that your piece has to be this long though and we strongly encourage shorter pieces being submitted.
How many young people can perform in each piece?
Pieces submitted for FRESH 2023 should feature no more than 20 young people. Please talk to us if this may be a problem.
How should I submit my application for FRESH 2023?

If performing at one of the showcases in Hull, Scunthorpe or Barnsley, or the Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival in York, then your work will not need to be filmed as we will see it live.
How will I know if you have received my application?
When we receive your application, you will receive a brief email notification in return. If you do not receive confirmation then please contact us to double check that we received it.
My group only has DVD footage of our piece! Can I still apply?
