Welcome to Chantelle and Laura

Chantelle Carr-Dixon and Laura Homer

After more than 16 years at Yorkshire Dance, we recently said farewell to Judy Rose, our Finance Administrator, who decided to take her well-earned retirement. We now welcome Chantelle Carr-Dixon to the team as our new Finance Administrator.

Chantelle originally trained as a croupier – but exchanged the roulette table a number of years ago for something a little more predictable! She has now worked for many years in finance in both the voluntary and private sector, including various Leeds based charities. Chantelle is responsible for all the day-to-day administration of Yorkshire Dance’s finances.

Chantelle says, “I was drawn to this role as an opportunity to combine my skills in finance with a love of all things dance. The range of events and projects Yorkshire Dance delivers is incredible and I’m looking forward to getting to know the work in more detail. Today there is constant pressure on charities to make every penny count, and at a time when raising funds is increasingly competitive, so I hope my work can help us continue to support as many people and artists as we can.”

In Autumn 2018, we appointed Laura Homer as our new Facilities Coordinator.

Having already been a member of our Front of House team, we knew she’d be great for the job and bring her existing knowledge to the role. Laura brings an enthusiasm for the Leeds Arts scene, regularly engaging with events throughout the city. She has recently completed an MA in Writing for Performance and Publication and in 2018 enjoyed seeing one of her plays being performed around Leeds.

In her new role, Laura has taken over management of the evening classes programme and helps to generate income through hire of our studios and meeting rooms. She will also be helping with planning for the upcoming Encounters festivals and assisting with other Yorkshire Dance events.

Laura says, I’m thrilled with my new position at Yorkshire Dance and love working in such a creative, friendly environment. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn more about working within an arts charity and contribute to the fantastic work that Yorkshire Dance does with local communities.
