The national environmental accreditation scheme, Investors in the Environment (IiE) recently hosted their prestigious award ceremony for the Yorkshire and Humber region which celebrates industry achievements to reduce impact on the environment.

Over 20 organisations received awards including Yorkshire Dance who received the IiE Bronze accreditation together with the Best Newcomer Award. Both awards recognise Yorkshire Dance’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and to the continual improvement of environmental performance.

Lauren Clarke, Facilities Manager, and Maria Popova, Administrative Assistant, received the awards on behalf of Yorkshire Dance.

Lauren commented ‘We are delighted with our awards, especially for Best Newcomer. At Yorkshire Dance we have developed a real team spirit around our environmental work and are constantly looking for new and creative ways to reduce our impact and learn more about how we can make a positive difference. Over the past 18 months, we have been able to achieve a significant reduction in our energy usage, which is good for our budgets at these testing economic times for the arts sector – and great for the planet.’

IiE awards were presented to companies as diverse as Yorkshire Dance, Queensway Dental Clinic, IKEA and Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. More information can be found at www.iie.uk.com
