FRESH is our annual showcase of high quality youth dance from across Yorkshire, and will be taking place on Saturday 23 March 2024 at CAST in Doncaster!

Who can apply for FRESH?

FRESH is for every style of dance, from streetdance to Kathak to commercial. We accept applications from soloists, duets, trios, and groups of up to 20 dancers. This includes schools, community-based youth dance groups, individuals and youth companies aged 11-19 (25 for dancers with additional needs or a disability). Groups can be brand new or long-standing – everyone is welcome!

We particularly encourage applications from young choreographers, work-in-progress pieces, newly established groups and groups who have never taken part in FRESH previously.  

We also warmly welcome applications from youth dance groups working with young disabled dancers (up to the age of 25) as we are working to ensure that both FRESH and U.Dance are inclusive and fully accessible. Please talk to us if you have any questions or concerns about how we can make the event accessible for you or your group.

We are accepting applications for both on stage and on screen performances.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for dance pieces and screendances made by and with young people showcasing:

• excellence in performance
• original, excellent and engaging choreography
• dancers taking clear ownership of the choreography, which is appropriate for their age and experience

How to apply

Please complete and send the Application Form by Friday 15 December 2023 OR complete the form online below.

We will also need to see your work as part of your application. You can do that in one of the following ways:

1. Send in film footage of your piece to Yorkshire Dance by Friday 26 January 2024 

OR 

1. Perform at a showcase in your area by January 2024 (if your group is not selected for a showcase because of capacity you will be asked to send film footage in of your piece)

Important note: If you do not have licensed chaperones to accompany your group you must apply to get these as soon as possible.

Along with your application for FRESH 2024, we will need proof of a Chaperone License for your group leaders, OR proof that you have begun an application for a license to your Local Authority.
