Due to the Covid-19 pandemic many dance organisations across Yorkshire have cancelled live performances and platforms. We are aware of the impact this is having on children & young people across Yorkshire, so we have joined forces to bring you multiple opportunities within the RE:FRESH event to share, watch and take part in our digital dance festival in Spring 2021.

RE:FRESH is a regional dance platform led by Yorkshire Dance in partnership with:

CAPA College, Dance Action Zone Leeds, Dance United Yorkshire, Hull City Council, Kala Sangam, Leeds City College, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, One Dance UK, Phoenix Dance Theatre, RJC Dance and Yorkshire School Dance Festival

We are running a celebration of children and young people’s dance across Yorkshire in Spring 2021, and we need YOU!

We are looking for screendances and dance pieces to share as part of a Yorkshire-wide, digital dance festival in Spring 2021. Whether you have a screendance or a dance piece ready-made, or if you would like to make something, we would love to hear from you!

We are looking for dance groups, primary and secondary schools, colleges and individuals any age up to 19 (or 25 for dancers with a disability) to get involved. In addition to showcasing work made by children and young people we will also be hosting workshops, Q&A’s and screening professional dance pieces. The inspirational festival programme is open to all children and young people across the Yorkshire region and beyond.

If you would like the chance for your work to be showcased as part of the event, please download the  Expression of Interest form here and send it via email to ionebarton@yorkshiredance.com by Sunday 31st January.

Your submission could be for a finished piece, a work in progress, or even just an idea. We are interested in work in the form of screendances or a dance which would normally be performed on a stage, that can be recorded for the event.

You can submit more than one expression of interest (All work must be finished and ready to present by 1st March 2021).

We strongly recommend that your pieces for RE:FRESH use copyright-free music or music that you have the license for. This is due to copyright and licencing laws around using music online, which mean that we may not be able to share work which uses copyrighted music, and to reflect best practice in this area.

We understand that finding great music can be challenging and so please give us a call if you have any worries about this.

If you want to be considered for U.Dance, they will also only be able to share pieces that use copyright-free music or that you have the license for.

This celebration is a partnership between dance organisations, schools and dance representatives across Yorkshire. It is also the regional youth dance platform for One Dance UK’s National U.Dance Festival 2021.  Together we want to create a fantastic opportunity for young people to share, take part in and enjoy dance!
