Be part of the movement.
Gender Moves runs alongside Performing Gender offering opportunities for the LGBTQI+ community of Leeds to explore gender identity through a series of conversations, workshops and performances.
We are looking for individuals from the LGBTQI+ community age 16+ who are interested in what it means to be LGBTQI+ in Leeds and within the wider context of Europe.
There’s no need to have any experience in dance or be fit, just an openness and desire to be part of the programme.

If you have any questions, or want to discuss the project further, please contact Kirsty Redhead, email@example.com | 0113 243 8765
Gender Moves will take place in two blocks – four workshops in May and four workshops in October.
Sunday 20 May | 10.00am – 1.00pm
In this first workshop we will focus on getting to know one another, sharing our thoughts on what could be possible in the project and having fun!
Wednesday 30 May | 5.00pm – 7.30pm
This will be your chance to meet the 5 European dance artists taking part in Performing Gender, dance together, eat together and share your experiences of what it means to be LGBTQI+ and live in Leeds.
Friday 1 June | 7.00pm – 9.00pm
Come along to a night of performance where the Performing Gender artists will be sharing their work to the public. The performance will be followed by a party with DJ Fuzzy and guests.
Sunday 10 June | 10.00am – 1.00am
A chance to reflect on what you have been exploring over the past couple of weeks and creatively respond to the work seen at the performance.
The Create workshops will have been designed by the group in the first block of Explore workshops, so at the moment this is pretty free flowing. Although we hope to “create” something!
Sunday 14 October | 10.00am – 1.00pm
Sunday 21 October | 10.00am – 1.00pm
Wednesday 24 October | 5.00pm – 7.00pm
Friday 26 October | 7.30pm – 9.00pm
The workshops are free and we can provide support for travel expenses if needed. All workshops take place here, at Yorkshire Dance.
