Alexah Tomey-Alleyne

Alexah Tomey-Alleyne is a mixed Afro-Caribbean female artist from Leeds whose work balances within the fluid landscape of making, performing, writing and advocacy. Her practice which is cultivated through her experiences as a black female, draws upon her culture as a means of exploring the moving body; with her black identity central within her work which she uses to question the structures of the white hegemonic society she exists within.
On joining the Artist Advisory Group, Alexah said: “[she] is excited to be part of the advisory group, with the hopes that collectively they can help bring and sustain positive change to the dance community here in Leeds.”
