Swish FAQs

Clothes rail
What items will you accept?

We accept men’s and lady’s clothing, shoes, accessories and jewellery in good clean condition – this should be something you would pay money for at a charity shop. Please check that your items are not torn, stained or missing buttons.

We do not accept swimwear, underwear or pyjamas (unless brand new with tags) or children’s clothing.

How does the token system work?

You will receive one token for each item you bring. So for example if you bring 5 jumpers you will receive 5 tokens. When you have found new items you wish to purchase visit the check out desk to exchange one token for one new item of clothing.

If you bring a designer brand or high quality vintage item you will receive a ‘designer token’ which can be exchanged for either one designer item or 2 items of non-designer clothing.

You can purchase additional tokens on the night.

I don’t have anything to exchange but I still want to swish

We encourage everyone to bring at least one item to swish. However if you don’t have anything to swish you are very welcome to buy tokens on the night.

Can I drop off my items in advance?

You do not need to bring in items in advance as you can exchange your items for tokens when you arrive. If you need to bring in items in advance you are welcome to bring your items to Yorkshire Dance reception from 10.00 on Monday 6 May. You will receive your tokens when you drop off your clothes.

Will there be any refreshments

You are welcome to bring along your own refreshments and we will provide glasses. We will also have bottles of wine available to purchase.

Will you accept plus size clothing?

We accept all adult clothing, regardless of size. However, we can’t guarantee that there will be a full range of sizes at the event as this will depend on the items everyone brings to exchange.

Do I need to arrive at 4.30?

No you are welcome to arrive at any time between 4.30 and 7.00.

What will happen to the entrance fee?

The swish aims to raise much needed funding for Yorkshire Dance’s community programmes. At the moment we are raising funding so we can restart our Youth Dance Company in Inner East Leeds by Autumn 2019. If you would like to support this project you can also donate online here.
