Sessions start from 9am – 12pm
Yorkshire Dance is bringing artists and promoters to come together to consider the state of play of dance creation, production and live presentation amidst Covid-19.
Covid-19 has impacted heavily on our traditional venue and touring infrastructure.
Artists and theatre venues are considering and developing (their) creative responses regarding the safe presentation of live professional dance work including for local, outdoor, site-specific and community-led contexts.
What are the creative practices & opportunities that emerge in this new landscape?
(What are the new opportunities for creative practice?)
How can artists navigate the (re)shaping and forming of ideas with producers, promoters and with audiences?
How do presenters and producers in these different contexts consider the role of dance?
David Harradine will guide us through two digital sessions, with artists and promoters presenting their current work/ provocations on how this “different” landscape is working for them.
- Session one: “Innovative practice in a changing landscape”: to hear from leading artists/ producers in this field with 4 case-studies and provocations. To have an initial discussions between dance makers and producers/presenters.
- Session two: focus on building relationship between artist and producers/presenters, who have a chance to connect over their desires for change and new ideas.
This event is open to those who have applied for and been selected to attend.
This project is funded and supported by Surf the Wave and Leeds Dance Partnership.
