Into The LightEvent type: Performance Part of: Into the Light at LGBT50
Sat 29 Jul, 1:00pm
Venue: Queen Victoria Square, Hull
Presented by: Gary Clarke & Yorkshire Dance for LGBT50
a new work by award-winning choreographer Gary Clarke
A fast-forward version of LGBT history.
Dance through the decades from 1967. Landmark events of the last fifty years and stories from our own LGBT+ community are brought to life in this eclectic feast of colour, costume and music.
Choreographer Gary Clarke (COAL) has created a moving dance celebration of our lives and loves, our challenges and our triumphs. Follow our emergence from a secret world, in which homosexuality was illegal, and join us for a riotous, family-friendly performance in the bright, open air.
The 30-minute performance by a mixed cast of professional and non-professional dancers will flow through the crowds at Duckie’s Summer Tea Party in Queen Victoria Square. It will be performed twice during the afternoon – times to be confirmed.
At the very end of the performance, all the thousands of people in the square will be invited to join in with a short mass dance.
Into The Light is a new work created for LGBT50, the celebration of the 50 year anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK, as part of the Hull UK City of Culture 2017 programme.Back to all eventsBack to Into the Light at LGBT50
