On Behalf of Rachel Clarke Dance Company, Amelia McCarthy will be teaching a FREE open class, which will be taking place whilst the company are in residence at Yorkshire Dance.
Amelia, studied at New Zealand School of Dance, working with renowned choreographers and dancers from both NZ and internationally. Significant works include Ross McCormack’s‘Preface; Homage to a Risk’ debuted at Auckland Tempo Festival (2015), was a featured soloist in excerpts of Douglas Wright’s‘RAPT’ showcased at NZ School of Dance Graduation Season (2014) and also performed an excerpt of the work ‘As It Fades’ by Kuik Swee Boon .
Now currently based in Leeds, she has already started to establish herself as a prominent artist in the UK dance industry. Amelia has recently finished working with an Edinburgh-based company, JJG Dance, on their new work ‘The Box’ which premieres this year and has plans to tour around the UK. Other significant works she has performed in recently include being a featured dancer in Sunny Bank Mill’s ‘Ones to Watch’, an annual exhibition of emerging artists from across Yorkshire, Jake Evan’s work ‘I was born but’ debuted at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and was the lead dancer in Napoleon III’s music video ‘So It Goes’.
‘Beginning on the ground and slowly warming up our bodies with floor work and gradually transitioning to standing where we will learn fun, high movement exercises and play with different dynamics and the space around us’
