Most of us are familiar with a feeling that, if we could just get focused, come up with a plan, hustle a little bit harder and seize the opportunity, we can do good, if not great things. This workshop draws inspiration for Sam Conniff Allende’s book, Be More Pirate. By re-framing pirates (aka artists) from rogues to role models, we’ll discover some of the innovative methods pirates used to change their lives and the world around them. Not just for inspiration, but for practical ways and ideas that we can take, adapt, adopt and implement, to change anything that needs fixing, overhauling or scraping in our art or the sector.
We’re going to reconnect to what’s important to us, state our mission, galvanise our crew, and learn to tell our stories in a way that will captivate those we wish to reach, whether it be audiences, participants, funders or programmers. If we don’t like the world we see around us, the onus is on us to change it. Whatever your ambitions, ideas and challenges, this workshop can help you choose the way you want to live, think and work. Let’s challenge the status quo, be a little bit more rebel and rewrite the rules in a world where there is an urgency for art to stimulate change.
Lunch will be provided.
