How do we learn and how do we move? How do different cultures view (or treat) the agency, status and role of children? How is the intimate and/or private act of parenting interrupted, undermined or supported by education and society?
I’m interested in the strategy of play; this began in earnest in the practical research for a solo performance work ‘…White’ (2003). GS
This evening of work positions artists working with ‘play’ in many guises: as parents with their children, choreographers with a child, dramatists with local kids and as a performance artist on her own.
Grace has brought together artists from a number of disciplines and countries for Playtime, wanting to embed a shared sensibility, and in parallel, interested in gleaning insights from cultural differences and specific artistic frameworks.
“My curatorial position reflects my current series of work, Mother Load, and I include tonight a new iteration in a short duet between Gary Winters and our 7 year-old son.”
The programme will feature Alphabets of Performance Art by Leene Kela (FI), films by Hege Haagenrud (NO), Åsa Cederqvist (SE), Rosemary Lee and the installation version of Blind Cinema by Britt Hatzius (DE/UK).Back to all eventsBack to Artists Curating Dance
