Participants from Yorkshire Dance’s Dance On sessions will perform in new work So Far, So Good… on Saturday 26 July as part of BD Fest at Bradford 2025, UK City of Culture. Choreographed by the renowned TC Howard, the group will perform for the public at 11am and 1pm in the Darley Street Market.

So Far, So Good… is a playful look at ageing: the achievements we celebrate, the mistakes we make and the wisdom we pick up on the way. It’s a reminder that no matter how old we are, there’s always more to follow, more to discover and more to enjoy.

Expect something bold, brave and beautiful; slogan t-shirts, megaphones, fun and unapologetic behaviour!

So Far, So Good… was co-created by dance artist TC Howard with support from 3 Bradford dance artists Joachim Keke, Tricia Arthur-Stubbs and James Mounsey alongside the artists and participants from Yorkshire Dance’s Dance On – a programme of 13 weekly dance groups in Bradford for residents aged 55+.

Over the last few weeks Dance On participants from Greengates, Denholme & Shipley have been busy working with TC to co-create and rehearse this work in their weekly Dance On sessions.

TC Howard is a renowned Northern dance maker and choreographer. Over 35 years in dance she has worked with everyone from Vincent Dance Theatre to Northern Broadsides to The Gary Clarke Company and many more. TC specialises in co-creating work with communities, her recent work with Yorkshire Dance’s intergenerational Company of People, led to a tour of their performance Epic Everyday to Italy and the Netherlands.

Artist TC Howard explains “At the heart of So Far, So Good… is the people. The wit and wisdom and life experience of all involved has made for a glorious ensemble of performers. Each one of these wonderful folk of Bradford bring their own unique personality to the work and together have made something out of the ordinary happen.

So Far, So Good… also takes inspiration from the vastness and beauty of the surrounding landscape, the power of the hills and the dramatic skies of Yorkshire. We’re looking forward to sharing the piece at Bradford 2025’s BD: Festival later this month”.

Yorkshire Dance’s Older People’s Producer, Adie Nivison explains “The participants have embraced the process and discovered new things about themselves and each other. It’s been a joy to see the groups inhabit the work and start bringing the choreography to life. So Far, So Good… is amazing opportunity to highlight the Dance On programme and with the support of Bradford 2025, UK City of Culture.”
