Matteo works across the dance industry in the UK and internationally as a leader, choreographer, programmer, teacher and educator. He is currently the Artistic Director and Programme Lead of VERVE, the touring company of Northern School of Contemporary Dance. 

Matteo’s career in dance has taken him all over the world, before he settled in the UK 12 years ago. Since then, he has been Rehearsal Director and Associate Artist at National Dance Company Wales, and has created work for the company that has been presented on international platforms such as Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture and Interplay Festival in Italy. He most recently collaborated with the collective (LA)HORDE as Casting Director for Rosalía’s performance at the BRITS Awards in February 2026.

Matteo’s passion lies in witnessing the power that dance has on people’s daily lives and how it can shape their ability to navigate the world today. He is also committed to artist development and is curious to discover new voices in contemporary dance, continually questioning what contemporary dance means to us today.
