Kick Off is a new creative performance project with Gracefool Collective. The project – originally conceived for the women’s UEFA Euro cultural programme – will be a large-scale dance theatre piece for outdoor public spaces, celebrating the dynamism and skill of women’s football and its link to the history of women’s protest & activism, through an eruption of dance and live music. The piece will have an inter-generational cast of people who identify as women, age 11 years plus, with a mixture of professional and non-professional performers including live music and an original score composed by award-winning percussionist Beibei Wang.

The work was performed in Leeds at Park Square on the 27^th ,28^th and 29^th July.  The project was funded by Leeds 2023, Arts Council England and supported by Yorkshire Dance and Leeds Dance Partnership.

The work is a call to arms for women to gather, strive and celebrate. We aim to inspire multiple generations of women and their allies to be exuberant with their identities, to bring new ways of being to their localities, to hope for more and for better through the uniting power of football and activism.
