‘They absolutely smashed it!’ | Yorkshire Dance Youth Company at the Winter Sharing
Fri 13 December 2024Part of: Yorkshire Dance Youth

On Wednesday 11 December, we hosted an informal Winter Sharing for Yorkshire Dance Youth Company, alongside special guests. The line-up included performances from Leeds City College, Union of Dance, DECODANCE, Renaissance Arts, Saskia from Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and our very own Yorkshire Dance Youth Company.
This is the second Winter sharing and offered an opportunity for the groups to perform work they have developed throughout the year to a sold-out audience of supportive family and friends. This year the groups took part in a workshop, led by Samantha Rutter from Leeds City College, to learn a group finale routine.
The Winter Sharing was extra special for Yorkshire Dance Youth Company. The group meets weekly at Kentmere Community Centre and is led by dance artists, Emily Barber and Megan Pennington. For many of the group, it was their first time performing.
Alex Garland who manages the project explains “they absolutely smashed it! We’re so proud of them and all the hard work they’ve put in this term. The whole night was a perfect celebration of what Yorkshire Dance is all about – dancers of all ages coming together, performing, and sharing their love of dance.”
