News Image Company K case study

Each year we select Dance Partners from the Yorkshire Region to receive tailored producing support, £3,000 seed funding and residency space.

The 2024-25 selection of Dance Partner Projects included, ‘Women Are Neurodiverse Too’ by Company K led by artist Kayleigh Price. Kayleigh was also selected to receive an access bursary and support as part of Talent Development North. This partnership led by TIN Arts with Yorkshire Dance and Cheshire Dance aims to support artists with a learning disability or autism.

At the point of applying, Company K’s project was in very early stages with ambitions to explore neurodiversity in women through contemporary dance and poetry and to build connections within the creative health sector to enhance support systems for neurodiverse women in the arts.

As part of the support package Company K worked with our Artist Development Producer João Maio to gain guidance on project design, bid-writing, relationship building and the creation of new assets to promote the project.

Below, company members Kayleigh Price, Daniella May Selwood, Corrin Bramble & Tyler Attwood reflect:

“Having the chance to carefully conduct research around such a big topic that has impacted the company, individually and collectively, has been transformational for the project, as has the opportunity to expand the project through significant funding from Arts Council England alongside the essential support we received from Yorkshire Dance. Women Are Neurodiverse Too wouldn’t have been able to happen without it.

The consistent support from Yorkshire Dance, check ins, support with writing our successful application to Arts Council England and ongoing patience with us throughout the process, has been the most useful. The support and the reassurance really helped us to make this project a success.”

Through Talent Development North Company K delivered a workshop and presented their research to gain feedback from peers.

“Through this support, Women Are Neurodiverse Too’ already has an exciting future beyond this first phase, and we hope to continue to work with Yorkshire Dance on it in the future beyond Dance Partner Projects.”

They encourage other artists to apply to become a Dance Partner saying,

“Please Apply! This commission helped us so much in many ways. The commissioning fee was used match funding in our Arts Council bid. We had consistent support from colleagues of Yorkshire Dance. We also got to use space which is usually really expensive, and this really helped us in our process.”
