Our brilliant TEMPO dancers took to the stage at the Riley Theatre in April as part of Making Moves, a choreography and performance project run by Sadler’s Wells.
Making Moves is a unique opportunity for young people from schools and youth groups across the UK to build their skills in creating, developing and showcasing their choreography. Each year selected groups across the country work collaboratively with their group leaders and are also paired with an external artist, who creates a digital choreographic ‘toolkit’, to support the development of their piece.
In preparation for TEMPO’s performance at the regional platform, Jemma Mae who co-leads the group attended the choreographers’ weekend at Sadler’s Wells in London to work with paired artist Kloé Dean and bring that knowledge back to TEMPO’s creative sessions. Jemma and other lead artist Chris Banks helped the group develop the choreography for their piece ‘Silhouettes’ about being bold and having the courage to take up space.
TEMPO attended the making moves regional platform in April. After a packed day of tech rehearsals, creative dance workshops and reflection sessions, the group performed their piece on stage at the Riley Theatre at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
