About Ageless
Dance is universal. Dance transcends age.
Ageless is a 2 day festival featuring a wide range of artists, film-makers and speakers who are reimagining age through dance. Fourth in the series of our Encounters Festivals, Ageless encapsulates and celebrates local, national and international work including the work that Yorkshire Dance has developed with older people in Leeds and across Yorkshire over the last decade. You can download the brochure or book tickets.

With a growing ageing population, this festival is driven by a desire to shine a light on this timely and exciting area of dance and research. We’re working with festival partners and key stakeholders across the dance, health and wellbeing sectors to ensure that Ageless encompasses the learning and principals of a conference, but also enables audiences to engage in performances, workshops and the artistic output of dance with older people.
Split across three venues in the newly redeveloped Quarry Hill area of Leeds, Ageless will feature an eclectic mix of insightful, intimate conversations, exhilarating and exciting workshops and vibrant performance, including groundbreaking UK premieres.
The line up includes:
- Robbie Synge and his Ensemble who return to Yorkshire Dance following their performance at our first Encounters Festival,
- Award-winning choreographer and installation artist Riccardo Buscarini.
- Liz Aggiss, a multidisciplinary performer, choreographer, film-maker and writer.
- Alan Lydiard and members of his performance Ensemble including Namron, Dance Artist and co-founder of London Contemporary Dance Theatre
- Professional dancer and choreographer and instigator of ‘Older and Reckless’, Claudia Moore.
The festival will have workshops and classes available on both days and there will be light refreshments as well as tea and coffee on offer.
Ageless is for anyone with a curiosity about dance and age. An exhilarating celebration featuring joy, dynamism and movement, this festival invites you into the heart of discussions, performances and workshops that shine a light on dance and age.
