We’re delighted about the most recent positive funding outcomes on applications to Arts Council England for our Dance Partner Project artists Vanessa Grasse and Katherine Hollinson.

Vanessa Grasse will be embarking on a phase of further choreographic development of MESH which explores how a participatory choreography for a large group can bring people together and Katherine Hollinson is developing a new work with her big sister Gemma, looking at Gemma’s life living with disabilities through the lens of their sisterly relationship.

The latest funding success means that all of our 4 current Dance Partner Projects have now received funding for their exciting projects in the making.

A total of £19,250 of additional partnership funds and £63,800 of Arts Council England Lottery funding has been successfully raised towards the 4 projects with Gracefool Collective and Sophie Unwin having received positive fundraising outcomes in recent weeks.

Gracefool Collective are developing their new work This Is Not A Wedding (working title) into production and Sophie Unwin will create a new solo CHASM, exploring various female considerations of roles within family and society.

Gracefool Collective and Katherine Hollinson will be sharing their work in progress at Yorkshire Dance in the next few months, Vanessa Grasse will be presenting MESH at Freedom Festival Hull on Saturday 1 September and Light Night Leeds on Friday 5 October and Sophie Unwin’s CHASM can be seen at Yorkshire Dance on Friday 26 October.

Yorkshire Dance’s Partner Projects receive residency space in our studios for the development of new work alongside tailored producing & dramaturgy support by our Artist Development Producer Tanya Steinhauser, seed funding of £500 per project and bespoke professional development workshops by (inter)nationally renowned artists and industry experts.

A call out for the next round of Dance Partner Projects has recently opened with a deadline of Monday 4 June, 10.00am for projects taking place between July 2018 – July 2019.
