We are delighted to share with you Jenny O’Sullivan‘s response to our Encounters Festival in June 2019, which explored and celebrated gender diversity. Jenny describes themselves “As a queer, dyslexic northerner, [who]draws comics, writes plays and performs drag, united by an interest in illegibility.” Jenny is also part of The Writing Squad, the ground breaking initiative that provides workshops, 1-1 support and investment for young writers aged 16-21 who live, work or study in the North of England.

Jenny’s response to Encounters comes in the form of stunning comic-strip like images, overlaid with snippets of text and dialogue. We think the images are outstanding and we cannot wait to frame them and hang them in our building. Please scroll through the gallery below and see for yourself!
