Yorkshire Dance stands in solidarity with the Trans* community.

This statement is made in response to the recent Supreme Court ruling on the legal definition of “sex” in the Equality Act.
Yorkshire Dance stands in solidarity with the Trans* community. We will continue to welcome people who identify as Trans* and actively encourage allyship and respect across all areas of our work.
Our Collective Encounters Festival in May celebrates the plurality of LGBTQ+ identities and encourages allyship. The festival features incredible performances by and workshops for people who identify as Trans* as well as an allyship workshop.
Yorkshire Dance is a braver space which means we aim to be an accessible and inclusive place for all and that includes the Trans* community. We create a ‘braver space’, where you feel able to express yourself in a supportive and empowering way. You will be welcomed and treated with respect by Yorkshire Dance staff and we expect and encourage all our building users, festival goers, artists and participants to do the same.
