Yorkshire Dance Annual Artist Gathering: Reflection
Fri 21 January 2022Part of: Artist Support | Dance for Arts Sake: Artist Development | 2019-2022 | Dance Transports 2010s-2023
Back in November, we opened our doors for our first annual Artist Gathering. An opportunity to meet our team, network and find out more about how Yorkshire Dance supports artists, the evening included a comprehensive exploration of available support and opportunities for dance artists in the region. At the event, we shared information about artist development projects such as Dance for Arts Sake, funded with Jerwood Arts, and our Dance Partner projects, Thinking Dance, Writing Dance, and Dance Transports.
Speaking on the gathering, our Artistic Director Wieke Eringa said,
“It’s more urgent than ever for organisations to be genuinely in dialogue with freelance artists, without whom we’d not be here. We were so pleased to share information and conversation with such a great, diverse group of artists from different walks of life, generations, career-stages and different parts of the dance sector. We look forward to work with the Artist Advisory group to reflect and plan other initiatives that drive transparency, clarity and dialogue.”
We loved having so many artists in our building and look forward to staying in touch. To keep up-to-date with our news for artists, join our Artists Newsletter here and don’t forget to book your ticket for our open scratch night on Friday 4th of February!
